Apple Confirms iOS 16 Bug Impacting

Apple has a known issue with iOS 16 that can affect device activation on open Wi-Fi networks.

To fix this "problem," Apple says customers are prompted to connect to a Wi-Fi network

Connect to a Mac or a PC with iTunes should be selected during the iOS onboarding process

Then return to the previous screen and try again on Wi. Fi until the activation is successful.

Apple notes there is no current official fix and that support staff "should not create a repair for the issue.

Unfortunately, the bug is ill-timed, as customers worldwide begin receiving their iPhone 14 pre-orders

For new iPhone 14 customers, there is an available iOS 16.0.1 update that fixes activation issues during setup.

To fix the bug if you are having trouble activating iPhone 14 out of the box

You may need to restore to iOS 16.0.1 via Mac or PC to fully activate your new iPhone.
