Android users get a new grip with the ASUS Zenfone 9 smartphone

The redesigned Zenfone 9 offers a tactile high-grip texture, designed to help you hold it more securely.

With up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, the Zenfone 9 mobile platform is powered by Qualcomm's latest 8+ Gen 1 processor, 256GB of storage.

A refreshed cooling system, a 4300mAh battery, and a 30-watt charger, an AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 5.9-inch charging port.

The Zenfone 9 sports a 50MP Sony IMX766 main camera along with a 6-axis hybrid camera system with more features like 8K video recording capability and a 3.5mm audio jack.

A somewhat surprising turn of events is the side-mounted fingerprint reader – older phones had it under the otherwise identical display.

The Zenfone 9 comes in a matte gray recycled cardboard box. Inside, you'll find a 30W charger and a USB-C cable to go with it.

This is most obvious in the camera - there's a 50MP main and 12MP ultra-wide, but no third lens like Samsung's telephoto or Xiaomi's telemacro.

The Asus Zenfone 9 would look like a by-the-numbers style smartphone if it weren't so small - it's smaller than most other Android phones on the market.

With two rear cameras, the Asus Zenfone 9 can't compete with many similarly priced phones. The main snapper is a 50MP using a Sony IMX766 sensor
