US lawmakers say new iPhones should be banned from using Chinese chips

Republican lawmakers have warned Apple that China is barred from procuring chips

Asked about congressional concerns, Apple told the FT that it does not use YMTC chips in any products

But it is evaluating sourcing from YMTC to use NAND chips in some iPhones sold in China.

Apple says it is not currently using the YMTC chip in phones sold outside of China.

Nanda chips used by the company had all user data stored on them.

The FT reported in April that the White House and the Commerce Department were investigating the claims

Lawmakers have accused the chipset maker of subsidizing Beijing's YMTC

A Commerce Department spokeswoman said it was aware of the concerns and was preparing a response to senators.
