Twitter user hail rollout of edit button

The social media platform posted a blog item announcing that the button is being tested internally and the

the feature will initially be offered to users of its paid Twitter Blue subscription service over the next few weeks.

"If you see an edited tweet, it's because we're testing the edit button," the company wrote.

Tweets will be able to be edited multiple times within 30 minutes of publication, it continued.

Edited tweets have an icon, timestamp, and label changed.

The company said readers will also be able to view past versions of tweets

Twitter announced that it had been testing an edit button for about a year.

The announcement came the same day the company said it was adding Tesla CEO Elon Musk to its board of directors.

Musk, the world's richest man, announced that he Buying Twitter outright for $44 billion.
