Nintendo will close the Wii U and 3DS eShops on March 27th, 2023.

Gamers have formerly been preparing for the death of the 3DS and the Wii U for some time.

After those stores, called the Nintendo eShop, shut down, it will no longer be possible to make digital purchases for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

While Nintendo initially insisted it was not a "replacement" for the 3DS, declining support and sales meant the venerable handheld time was limited.

In the year to March 2020, only 69,000 3DS consoles were sold.
